Do officers have CFETp? ›

The CFETP provides a starting point for each officer to understand the competencies expected of them as they progress through their career, and a roadmap with tools they can use to achieve their highest potential. It is incumbent upon the individual to own their career progression and seek feedback. 2.1.

In this case, the “7” skill level is a “craftsman.” Upon promotion to E-5, Airmen begin training for the “7” (craftsman) skill level. This level ​of training includes correspondence courses, more on-the-job training, and for some jobs, a 7-level technical school.

The AFCFM is the approval authority for the CFETP.

Purpose of the CFETP

Identifies competencies, sub-competencies, and proficiency levels and recommends education and training throughout each phase of an individual's career. Lists training courses available in the occupational series, identifies sources of training, and the training delivery method.

While non-military college graduates and current military candidates do not compete with each other for available OCS slots, the more prepared you are for the physically rigorous demands of OCS, the better. About 65% of OCS applicants are accepted.

Air Force OTS acceptance rates vary widely from year to year, ranging from below 10 percent to over 60 percent. The Air Force also uses a set of selection boards to evaluate officer candidates. Air Force officer positions are either rated, which means flight duty, or non-rated, for all other commissioned positions.

Officer Candidates will attend Basic Training, a nine-week training course where candidates go through the process of becoming full-fledged Soldiers. Upon graduation, Officer Candidates will attend Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA.
