Please note this ride starts at Kent/James St P&R andbe ready to ride at 8:00 amsharp!!! We will start with a required safety briefing and roll out when that is done. All riders must attend the safety briefing to participate.

Yellow Ride #10starts at the Kent/James Street P&R in Kent, makinga clockwise loop that includes Maple Valley, Ravensdale, Enumclaw, South Prairie, Orting, Sumner and passing through Auburn on the way back to the start. At this point in the training series, the amount of climbing in this route should not be a problem. There will be a short restroom stop at Auburn Golf Course near the start of the ride (due to norestrooms at the P&R). The route then takes us along scenic Green Valley Rd, past farms and meadows. Our first climb will begin after making a left turn onto 218th Ave SE from Green Valley Rd. When we reach the end of that road, we continue to loop through Maple Valley, Ravensdale, and Cumberland before reaching our food stop in Enumclaw. After our food stop, the fun begins by riding on mostly flat and downhill roads along with some rollers inBuckley, South Prairie, Orting, and Sumner. Our final food/restroom stop will be Starbucks when we arrive inSumner. From there, we will finish up with a relaxing ride on our way to the Interurban Trail and back to the start. Come ready to enjoy a great day in the saddle with beautiful scenery and great view of Mt Rainier (weather permitting).

Distance

95 mi.

Elevation Gain

2,364 ft.

Pace

Steady: [12-14mph]

What Pace Means

Pace classification indicates the intended range of speeds on level ground without breaks. This means downhill sections of the ride may be faster, and uphill sections slower.

Note: For rides with a “hilly” terrain classification, consider choosing a pace one step down from your usual comfort level.

Terrain

Hilly

What Terrain Means

Terrain indicates the most common or average terrain type of the ride and should be considered relative to the length and overall difficulty of the ride. For example, a long-distance ride with a lot of elevation gain will be overall less challenging than a short ride with equal elevation gain. Consider the pace and frequency of regroup as well to understand how advanced a ride may be.

  • Mostly flat: Trails and/or mostly flat roads with a possible gentle uphill
  • Rolling: Climbs are short and easy, not too numerous
  • Some hills: A few short, steep hills, some moderate upgrades and/or longer gentle climbs
  • Hilly: Consistent or continuous climbing
  • Off-road: Significant unpaved sections
