Beyond the Spider-Verse could be a November release.
I think the "It's moving to 2027 because one animator said so!!!" comments are overblown and ridiculous.
I disagree!

What happened with The Equalizer 3? It is not getting to 100M with this stupid drop.
Labor Day happened. Shang-Chi had 98% Audience on Rotten Tomatoes and literally nothing out on its second weekend and it still dropped 54%. The weekend dropping right when schools go back in session is not ideal when it comes to legs. Of course like Shang-Chi, it can still recover, even if it misses 100M, and it's still going to be profitable for Sony and Fuqua.

Was expecting a mid-20s opening with that Nun preview. So to be honest, getting into the 30s for a movie in
A. A declining franchise
B. A mediocre sequel to a doo-do movie
That seems pretty darn solid if you ask me. Good for that movie.

Well yeah. She's been in there since Hannah Montana: The Movie. It was the only way she could be in Cats, Amsterdam, etc.

It's almost 3:30 on the East Coast and we still don't have any RT Audience scores for either new release. We've started getting delays for them until Friday morning, but this feels like a first and pretty odd. Like there's no reason to hide it. Are the RT admins just asleep?

EXCLUSIVE:A24’sSofia Coppoladirected movie,Priscilla, will now go wide on Nov. 3 instead of Oct. 27.
The news comes on the heels of a glowing world premiere out of the Venice Film Festival where the movie based on the Priscilla Presley’s memoirElvis and Megrabbed a 94% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.
WithDune: Part Twomoving off of Nov. 3, it creates more breathing room for others movies and availability of theaters. And, true, it’s also the last weekend ‘official’ weekend of theTaylor Swift: Eras Concertmovie.

It's also easy home watching. Someone decides to watch the first movie and sees there's a second and thinks "Hmmm... they made a second one, let's watch it" and that ends and they see "wait... there's a third one? Why not I guess"
Exactly. These films are prime material for "background noise you put on while doing Sunday chores".

Between him doing that and Nia Vardalos somehow getting a third Greek Wedding greenlit, it sure does make one wonder just how much blackmail and dirty secrets there are in Hollywood.
No offense, but a Greek Wedding 3 isn't that unbelievable. This was independently produced for starters, with Vardalos, Hanks, and Rita Wilson putting up most of the bread. And despite making significantly less, Greek Wedding 2 made 5 times its production budget, and likely sold well on digital and home video. So with these movies being so cheap to make and likely having solid upsides both theatrically and in the ancillary market...yeah, why wouldn't you make a third movie?

Worst part is that it'll probably be the biggest opening until Taylor comes around. At least we'll still be far ahead of last September I suppose?
