Second round in and I feel like I’ve made some positive progress after the highs and lows of the weekend! We decided to compete in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup because it was going to be a challenge as several top drivers that know the track inside out have won the UK Mini Challenge aswell as the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup several times. Testing was a challenge as we were fighting power issues and in the last session we had a brake failure at 98mph. I can definitely say that was a new experience!Qualifying and race 1 unfortunately we still hadn’t found why the car would just suddenly drop power. Massive thank you to PerformanceTek Racing LTD who changed my fuel pump and that fixed it! Race 2 was my best race this year coming from 16th to 6th and getting top Rookie. I started 3rd in the 3rd race with the reverse grid and was really hoping for a podium but unfortunately I couldn’t find the same pace and finished 9th.Mega pace showed after battling car issues being the 3rd quickest on track!Can’t wait for the next round in 5 weeks. That’s testing done at Knockhill for round 3 of the Scottish Mini Coooer Cup. Every day is definitely a learning day. Had a brake failure into the first corner at 100mph narrowly missing the barrier by going in sideways to the gravel trap. Feeling confident for tomorrow after new brake callipers on the rear and adjusting the tracking. Qualifying early on in the morning at 9:40 then the first race at 11:55, second race at 14:45 and the 3rd race at 17:00. Definitely a busy day tomorrow with not much turn around time. Overall a brilliant first weekend in the Scottish Motor Racing Club Mini Cooper Cup. Coming away with a P11 P10 and P9 improving every session with changing conditions. Not 1 race was the same but I kept my head down kept the car on track and came out with some positive results. Lots to learn from the weekend and an improvement on starts is definitely needed! A huge thank you goes out to Gerry at PerformanceTek Racing LTD, Commence Marketing and Pool Lane Classics for all the help and support over the last couple of months. A very up and down day today. After some positive testing on extremly old tyres I went into qualifying with new rubber and with high hopes but unfortunately I was over driving and dropped 4 tenths from practise. That put me 16th for race 1 (top 2 cars are Cooper S Class). Race 1 came around quickly and I had nothing to loose. I got a great start taking 2 by the first corner but a safety car got deployed for 5 laps. Once we were back racing I had some great battles in the pack but unfortunately a mistake from me locking up into the last corner dropped me 3 places and finishing 12th but overall extremely happy with the improvement from qualifying and setting times that would put me 7th. I would like to say a massive thank you to Commence Marketing who are my tyre sponsor this weekend. I couldn’t do it without you! Onto tomorrow with Race 2 at 12:30 and Race 3 at 4:00. After nine months of dedicated hard work, I am thrilled to be going racing this weekend. The journey to this point has been challenging yet we always find a way!This weekend, we're heading to Knockhill Racing Circuit. Our schedule is set with 4 test sessions on Saturday morning, followed by qualifying and the first race.
