Great tool, this Global Energy Monitor. This view shows serious geopolitical risks. See if you can think of what they are. They may not be the ones you initially expect. https://lnkd.in/eHjtFbdP#coal

What's really interesting is who funds this and what for. Despite that, it's useful.

Just had a terrific call with Dan Comiskey in TC Energy #safetyweek. Thank you Dan for spending the time with TC today. If you haven't heard Dan speak, it was easily one of the best presentations I've ever heard on safety and I'd highly recommend him.The big takeaway for me was a football analogy about finding small habits to improve your game. An example Dan gave on this idea relating to safety was a case where one of his employees had been routinely running behind, something that can happen when meetings stack up. The solution was to have this employee state at the start of the meeting that the meeting was done at a precise time, and then to get up and leave at that time with no awkwardness. This ended up multiplying into numerous other improvements. It sounds really, really basic. But then consider John Wooden, the winningest NCAA coach in men's basketball history. He taught Bill Walton and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar how to put on their socks and tie their shoes. The thinking was that if they wouldn't control that, they might get blisters. If they got blisters, they couldn't practice. If they couldn't practice, they wouldn't play. Not playing was unthinkable. 'Little things make the big things happen.' - Coach Wooden

Massive #fraud in academic publishing. Shocked. This is why actual science is a highly skeptical endeavor. "In the past two years, Wiley has retracted more than 11,300 papers that appeared compromised, according to a spokesperson, and closed four journals.""Show me the incentive, and I will show you the outcome." - Charlie Munger.

I want to provide some inside dope here on #Veterans. This is some hard-earned wisdom here from a flag officer:"...perhaps the most important things I learned during my career include flexibility, humility and being a team player. You won't be successful if you think you still wear your last rank and that people should defer to you.The truth is that kind of attitude wouldn't have been successful even when you still wore the rank."Fact. The idea that people in the military all scream at each other and are command/control oriented hard asses is wrong-headed. Hollywood soldiers are not reality. I've been out longer than I was in at this point. I've seen more command/control behavior in civilian life than I did in uniform. I've seen more flexibility, humility, and team play in uniform than out. If you value that approach, hire Veterans. Do with that what you will. Hopefully it's helpful. Caleb, these are only improving with time. BZ.

As always, Super-Spiked is excellent. Great Q&A here addressing several of the common themes in energy debate today in a direct manner. Reading Arjun's pieces on Saturday is a highlight of the week for me.

Articles like this one from Tablet Magazine are why I trust non-MSM and hate MSM. You will not read this level of journalism in WSJ, NYT, the Globe, or any other legacy outlet. I love journalists that turn over rocks. They are increasingly rare. #protests

Analysis like this reflects more than the typical one-issue (carbon/AGW) approach. History, security, conflict, geopolitics, economics, engineering, development, and demographics must be considered. World peace does not appear to be on the cusp of breaking out. Hate Bjorn Lomborg if you want, but he's on time and on target with this piece. The economics of ambitious climate action have always been deficient. More politicians are realizing whatClaire Coutinho, Britain’s secretary for energy and net-zero, has acknowledged: “You cannot heap costs onto struggling families to meet climate targets.”Main street issues are killing the current approach. Not long now until the common sense registers in a big way. #climatechange #renewables #economics #energy #africa #india

If you are trying to figure out transition from the military, here is my two bits. Caleb Walker puts out a great series on advice from Veterans for Veterans. My bit here is one of many, all of which have been really insightful so far.#veterans #careertransition
