Mark Phillips

Mr. Mark Phillips, age 56, of Grantville, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at his home. Mark was born on September 2, 1960, in Blount County, Alabama. He resided in Coweta County with the love of his life, Donna, and was an extremely dedicated deputy sheriff for the Heard County Sheriff’s Department. A member of the First United Methodist Church of Grantville, he truly loved serving his community; but above all else, he loved being home with Donna and their fur baby Josie. Survivors include his wife, Donna Phillips; mother, Joyce Phillips; brother, Leslie Phillips; mother in-law, Ann Long; sister in-law, Janet Crews and her husband Jimmy, all of Grantville; and nephew and nieces, David Phillips, Mandie Crews, Morgan Crews, and Raif Crews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donny L. Phillips, and his brother Jeffery Phillips. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Reverend Derrill Scott and Chad Woods officiated with area law enforcement serving as an honor guard. Delores Harrison

Mrs. Delores Faye Harrison, age 69, of Senoia, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Mrs. Harrison was born October 5, 1947, in Atlanta, daughter of the late Robert Marchman and Mary Riddle Marchman. A resident of Coweta County since 1987, she retired from Ford Motor Credit after 23 years of service and then was employed by the Fayette County Zoning Department for five years. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Newnan, where she had taught Sunday School. Survivors include her husband, Daniel Harrison of Senoia; daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and Roger Scoggin of Griffin; sons and daughter in-law, Steve and Kim Akin of Moreland, David Akin of Senoia; step-daughter, Kelly and Craig Couvillion of Sharpsburg; step-sons, Jamie and Terra Harrison of Stockbridge, Joshua Harrison of Griffin; a grandson raised by Mr. and Mrs. Harrison, Taylor Akin; sister, Barbara Smith of Grantville; and brothers and sisters in-law, Robert and Cathy Marchman of East Point, Larry and Beverly Marchman of McDonough; eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew Bugg and her sister, Donna Shaw. The funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Joel Lamar Dulin

Mr. Joel Lamar Dulin, age 70, of LaGrange, passed away on November 22, 2016 at the Hospice LaGrange.Mr. Dulin was born on July 14, 1946 in LaGrange to the late Willie Rowe Dulin and Princess Fuller Dulin.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Rachael Wisner, Helen Kelley and Benny Dulin. Mr. Dulin was a Radio Announcer and Personality on Eagle 102.3.In addition, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his son, Derek Dulin and his wife Crystal of LaGrange; grandchildren, Derek Dulin and Andrew Dulin; extended family and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 pm at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel. Rev. Mrs. Mary Louise Harris, age 78, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at West Georgia Hospice, LaGrange. Louise was born September 25, 1938 the loving daughter of Harvey Paul and Rosa Lee Graham McClendon. She was retired from the Department of Natural Resources, where she spent many years greeting every one as they entered the Little White house.

Sammie Nell Fugitt Jones

Sammie Nell Fugitt Jones passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 in LaGrange, Georgia. Sammie Nell Fugitt Jones of Harris County Georgia, and resident of Vernon Woods Retirement Community in LaGrange, Georgia died peacefully on November 21, 2016.She was born in Booneville, Mississippi on January, 12, 1928 to Joseph W. Fugitt and Rella White Fugitt.She was the devoted and beloved wife of Fred L. Jones for 66 years. She waspreceded in death by her loving daughter, Louanne Jones Woliver. She is survived by husband, Fred L. Jones; son, Frederick Lamar (Mary Lee)Jones III of Atlanta;grandson, Christopher Woliver of Atlanta; and six nieces and nephews. After graduation from Booneville High School, Sammie attendedBelhaven University in Jackson, MS and Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. She was a talented student of business communications and taught shorthand, typing, and other skills at high schools in Mississippi.After teaching, her skills were an asset to numerous businesses and organizations.Sammie was married to Fred L. Jones on September 11, 1950. Sammie was a vital support to Fred’s careerwith the General Electric Company. Family moves included Schenectady, NY, Lynn, MA, Fort Wayne, IN, El Paso, TX, DeKalb, IL, South Bend, IN, Fort Wayne, IN, and Atlanta, GA.Moving to Georgia with Fred’s Retirement found Sammie with many new friends and activities. She loved her part in rebuilding, redecorating, and making the farmhouse and grounds at Jones Crossroads Farm a warm and welcoming home. There were new friends at the First Methodist Church in LaGrange. She shared her talents with all. She served several times as President of herSundaySchool Class and served on committees at the Church. She was active in community affairs at Jones Crossroads and in supporting Fred in area organizations. Sammie was a great cook & loved good food and socializing. She enjoyed her books, birds and flowers, and had a wonderful smile and laugh that brightened up a room.She was a caring, loving, and supportive Mother and Grandmother. Sammie and Fred were always on the go and traveledacross the world.Many cruises and trips took them to Europe, Russia, South America, Hawaii, and Alaska. They traveled extensively in the US visiting friends all over the country.When at home she most loved hosting Family and treasured Friends. Funeral Services will beat 2:00 pmMonday, November 28, 2016in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of LaGrange with Reverend Helen Henry officiating. The Family will receive Friends at the Church following the Memorial Service. A private burial service will be held at the Union BaptistChurch Cemetery at Jones Crossroads. Mrs. JoAnn Jones, age 70, of LaGrange, GA passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at West Georgia Medical Center. Mrs. Jones was born August 2, 1946 in LaGrange, GA.She was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church and was retired from Florence Hand Home as a Registered Nurse.Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, John Christiful Terry Jones, parents, Nathan McGraw and Opal Harrison McGraw, and an aunt, Edna Richardson. Survivors include three children, Patti (Rudy) Smith, John (Delia) Jones, and Bill Jones; grandchildren, Sarah Smith, Tabitha (Brian) Turner, Brittany (Nikki) Gallegos, Heather (Justin) Wall, Nathan (Tabatha) Jones, Tyler (Cheyanne) Jones, Luke (Katie) Jones, and Molly Jones; great grandchildren, Audrey Jones, Caden Jones, River Jones, and Isaac Jones; sisters, Jeanette Kearce, Susie Officer, and Laura McGraw; brother, David McGraw; and numerous nieces and nephews. The gathering of family and friends was held onSaturday, November 26, 2016 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary.Funeral services were held at12:00 P.M.on Saturday, November 26, 2016 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Pastor Jeff Watts officiated. Burial followed in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
