DESTRUCTION HAPPENED. YEAH. HEY, YOU GUYS. SO I’M STANDING HERE, GREENWOOD PARK, RIGHT NOW, WHICH IS IN THE NORTHERN PART OF YUBA CITY. POLICE TELL ME THAT A TON OF HOMES NEARBY HERE HAD THEIR CARS HIT IN FACT, I TALKED TO AT LEAST SIX PEOPLE TODAY WHO HAVE A TON OF DAMAGE TO DEAL WITH THE HOME SURVEILLANCE VIDEO IS SHOCKING. WHAT WAS ODD ABOUT IT IS THAT IT SHOWS HIM PULLING UP ACROSS THE STREET. HE GETS OUT OF HIS CAR AND SETS HIS ALARM, AND THEN HE GOES, KEYS. EVERYONE IN THIS AREA, YOU CAN SEE THE MAN GO CAR TO CAR IN THIS YUBA CITY NEIGHBORHOOD. AND HERE HIM MAKING THOSE DEEP SCRATCHES AFTER HE’S FINISHED UP, HE UNLOCKS HIS CAR AND DRIVES OFF JUST TO ANNOUNCE HIS PRESENCE BY LAYING ON THE HORN AND HE ALMOST ACTED LIKE HE WANTED TO BE CAUGHT. THIS FAMILY HAD FOUR OF THEIR CARS KEYED AND THE PRICE TAGS FOR THE DAMAGE AREN’T PRETTY. PROBABLY OURS ALONE WILL BE AROUND 12,000 AND OURS WILL BE PROBABLY BE MAYBE 4000, AND MAYBE FIVE. THEY’RE NOT ALONE. WE HAVE TAKEN A REPORT OF AT LEAST 100 CARS AT THIS POINT. WE ARE STILL RECEIVING REPORTS OF CAR PEOPLE NOTICING THEIR CARS ARE VANDALIZED. WE WERE ABLE TO IDENTIFY HIM AS PARIAH SAHAND. HE’S A 23 YEAR OLD MAN. POLICE SAY THIS MAN WHO HAS FAMILY IN YUBA CITY, IS THEIR ONLY SUSPECT IN THIS CRIME SPREE ALL BY HIMSELF IN A QUICK PERIOD OF TIME. FOR THOSE LIKE KYLE, I JUST WONDER WHY PEOPLE DO IT. WHO’S ENTIRE TRUNK WAS KEYED? HE AND WHEN ALL SWIRLY SWIRLY HERE HE JUST WANTS TO KNOW WHY. ONCE I GOT BACK HOME, THE NEIGHBORS JUST CAME OUT AND THEY’RE LIKE, OH MY GOD. LIKE THE THEY SCRATCHED MY CAR TOO. I’M LIKE, OH, THEY SCRATCH YOURS. AND THEN EVERYBODY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WAS SCRATCHED. IT’S TRULY A BIZARRE CASE. AGAIN, 100 CARS SO FAR. POLICE SAY THEY DO EXPECT THAT NUMBER TO GROW. THIS IS STILL AN OPEN CASE AND THEY ARE BUILDING THAT. SO THEY SAID IF YOU LIVE IN YUBA CITY, NOT JUST IF YOU’RE IN THIS NEIGHBORHOOD, BUT ANYWHERE AROUND AND YOU HAD YOUR CAR KEYED TO, PLEASE GIVE THEM A CALL, THEY WANT TO SEND AN OFFICER TO YOUR HOME SO THEY CAN TAKE PHOTOS AND COLLECT EVIDENCE. The Yuba City Police Department said it's searching for the man they believe is responsible for keying at least 100 cars by himself in one night.Lt. Michelle Brazil said they started getting reports on May 5 from people who realized their cars had been keyed overnight in the northern part of the city.KCRA 3 spoke to six people on one street near Greenwood Park whose cars and trucks were vandalized.Surveillance video shared with KCRA 3 shows the suspect driving up to the neighborhood, parking his car in front of a home, locking his car, and then going from home to home, keying multiple vehicles. Once he's done, the video shows him driving away and honking his horn loudly before swinging back down the same street in the opposite direction.Brazil identified the suspect in this case as 23-year-old Pouriya Sahand. She said he has family in Yuba City, but detectives believe he is currently in the Sacramento area. Brazil said there is a warrant out for his arrest.“We’re estimating the damage to those hundred vehicles is somewhere in the neighborhood of about $175,000 at this point, but again, we’ll know more as it goes to court and all the victims bring forward their costs of what it actually took to get their repairs on their vehicle,” she said.Siblings Patricia Basile and Ron McDaniels had four cars keyed from their family’s home and are facing thousands of dollars in damages.Since the May 4 incident, Basile said she’s installed surveillance cameras at her home.“We all have deductibles on these cars, and those deductibles we have to pay out of pocket,” she said. “My thought is I want justice served on this regardless. He needs to pay if it’s in jail or whatever. He needs to be accountable for all of the people’s cars he’s destroyed.” Kyle Kleinhesselink said he’s dealing with $2,000 in damages from getting his car keyed.“I just want to know why he did it, like, there’s no reason he should be keying cars,” he said.The Yuba City Police Department is asking anyone whose car was keyed to please call them so they can send an officer to your home to collect evidence and take photos of the damage to add to this growing investigation.
