While this area might not look too exciting, we see it as a growth opportunity. This week we spent a few days to move and consolidate an electrical assembly department into a more suitable area in the factory. We reduced their floorspace by about 10% in the new area using #5S, but as I said, this additional 2000 Sq ft will be the future home of the assembly area for a large customer's new business. The electrical team is so excited being in their new area and the the business is excited to start building product for the big customer's store renovation.#lean #kaizen #teamwork

Creating greenfield manufacturing space and then seeing a team maximize how we reuse that area is one of the best parts of the job.

Scaled Factory floorplan re-layout using cardWhen doing a factory re-layout as part of a Project, a great but easy way to get buy-in from a wide group of stakeholders is by creating a visual floor plan: simply using card. The Front Line Team had never drawn a floor plan before, so using card was the simplest way to get them to start learning.1.They firstly drew a scaled floor plan and included the measurements.2.Then, added an area using yellow card to identify the out of project scope.3.Next, they added to signify the trolleys, coloured card, cut to scale.4.They determined the best layout of the area by testing multiple layouts.5.Finally, with the best layout the Team added the flow of the materials through the area.Using the coloured cards cut to scale, allowed the Team to develop a floor plan and test it with different flow scenarios to determine the best re-layout. They totally enjoyed moving pieces around and debating the options. Then they could engage a wider group of stakeholders to visually explain the plans/ideas.I’ve found this simple method is easy to use and makes it easy to explain various re-layout options. The re-layout Project was completed, saving significant labour (4 people reduced to 2), allowing the Plant Manager to re-deploy the labour to another department.

MORE ABOUT AIRROB__the working station lay out.About airrob working station design, the most important thing is about working station layout. As you know well, currently a lot of automation tote handle solution need install working station in the front or back of rack. As they must to be when using conveyor system which the system efficiency will slow down because of the bottle neck of less working station. Airrob solution could install working stations around the shelf. Even left and right sides would be better than front and back sides. Airrob solution, there are very small space need between working station to rack, because airrob no need conveyor system.Because airrob solution could install working stations around the rack, that means there are a lot of space could install working station, so it would be easier to extend or move working stations during peak time.

Optimizing Production Layouts: Unveiling Lean Concepts for Enhanced Efficiency (1/3)Introduction:In the fast-paced realm of manufacturing, every minute counts. The arrangement of your production floor can make a significant impact on efficiency, productivity, and ultimately, the bottom line. Embracing lean principles in production layout design is not just a trend; it's a strategic approach to streamline operations and eliminate wasteful practices. Let's delve into the core concepts of lean production layout and how they can revolutionize your manufacturing processes.Understanding Lean Production Layout:At its essence, lean production layout revolves around maximizing value while minimizing waste. It entails organizing the workspace in a manner that optimizes flow, reduces unnecessary movement, and enhances accessibility to resources. Central to this concept is the elimination of any activities or arrangements that do not contribute to the value stream.

🛒 A kitting cart is a catch-all term for carts typically used to gather kits of materials for assembly, inspect and store components, and even put away assembled goods. The specifics of a cart that fits your operation are defined by:⚙️/🔧 What it carries🚜/💪 How it's moved🏭/🌎 The environment it travels📝/🧭 The systems it fits into📦/🏗️ And other structures it interacts with. For a primer on kit carts and what to think about when designing them into your operation, check out our recent blog post:https://lnkd.in/gJuJRQAeReach out if you want to talk 1:1 about kitting solutions.
